What is 21mm birch ply?

21mm birch ply is a structural plywood panel built from multiple layers of solid birch veneers, each bonded with alternating grain direction. The reverse side is also single piece veneer and may include 3 to 6 colour matched oval patches, which are part of the accepted BB grade specification. Internally, the core is formed from solid birch single piece veneers.

The surface arrives smooth, sanded with a veneer finish, ready for lacquer, paint, varnish or stain. No aggressive prep work. Just light finishing as required for the project. Edges are supplied square, making alignment and jointing straightforward on site or in the workshop.

In terms of classification, this board is manufactured to BS EN636 Class 3 and categorised as structural. It is suitable for interior use as supplied and can be used in exterior conditions if correctly treated and sealed. The panel meets E1 formaldehyde standards, making it appropriate for interior environments where air quality matters. FSC-certified options are available.
