How to cut fibre cement board?
You will get clean edges if you plan the cut and use the right blade.
- For straight cuts, use a circular saw with a fibre-cement blade and support the cement fibre board along the full length.
- For a few small cuts, score the line with a utility knife and snap this works on thinner fibre cement sheets.
- Drill corners before cutting openings; it reduces stress cracks.
- Control dust: cut outside if possible, wear a mask and eye protection, and use extraction on the saw. Wet-cutting is another effective option, it helps to keep dust levels low and gives a cleaner edge.
- Lightly dress the edge with a rubbing stone before fitting.
