Spruce Plywood

Spruce plywood is a light, steady softwood sheet used for many building jobs. Spruce ply offers a clean spruce core, reliable strength and a panel that is easy to handle. WISA spruce plywood is a popular choice for walls, floors and general construction when you need a practical and good value board that stays stable once fixed.

What is spruce ply?

Spruce plywood is a softwood sheet made from thin spruce layers pressed into a stable board. It feels light, stays steady in use and works well for everyday building tasks. WISA spruce and other spruce core plywood options give a clean surface and a reliable base for walls, floors and general site work.

What is WISA spruce plywood used for?

WISA spruce plywood is a practical sheet for many parts of a build. Its light weight and steady core make it easy to lift, fix and shape. Builders use it for wall sheathing, simple floors, roof work and internal lining where a stable board helps everything fit neatly.

Spruce ply also works well for partitions, utility rooms, workshops and loft spaces. It gives a smooth base for paint or cladding, and the spruce core keeps the panel firm. Standard spruce plywood is often used in DIY projects from storage units to garage panels because it cuts cleanly and does not add weight.

Types of spruce ply

Our spruce plywood range is built around WISA spruce sheets in the 2440 x 1220mm (8’ x 4’) size. You can choose standard spruce plywood in 12mm and 18mm for walls, roofs, joinery and DIY. It is light to handle, easy to cut and gives a tidy face for paint or cladding.

For projects that need extra fire performance, there are WISA spruceFR options in 12mm, 15mm, 18mm and 24mm, all in the same 8 x 4 format. SpruceFR works like standard WISA spruce in load bearing builds but carries a Euroclass B fire rating for commercial interiors and regulated areas.

There is also a specialist 22mm WISA spruce underfloor heating board in a 2440 x 600mm size with routed pipe runs. It gives a strong, stable base for UFH systems and keeps the same easy handling as standard spruce ply.

Spruce plywood is available in two sheet sizes, 2440 x 1220mm (8’ x 4’) and 2400 x 600mm, and in thicknesses from 12mm to 24mm. Boards come with square edges, with tongue and groove on selected panels. Faces are offered in grades II, III and G, and all sheets use EN 314-2/3 Class 3 bonding with an E1 formaldehyde level. Spruce veneers run through the core, giving a natural softwood finish. Fire rated spruceFR sheets carry Euroclass B. FSC-certified options are available where marked.
