    18mm Egger U702 ST9 Cashmere Grey Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Grey Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and surface
    Cashmere Grey doesn’t commit fully to one mood. Depending on what’s around it, it can feel like a genuine touch of warmth or fade into a quiet, neutral backdrop. That comes from a subtle reddish cast running through the grey, which is why it works so well next to wood with a similar warm undertone. ST9 Smoothtouch Matt carries that same quiet character through into the surface itself, even and consistent under both eye and hand. Tested to EN 14323, the surface scores 3 or higher for stain resistance, so everyday marks and spills clean off without damaging the finish.

    Construction and performance
    The chipboard core is faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, finished with a square cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. The panel can be cut, drilled and machined using suitable woodworking equipment, with exposed edges finished using matching U702 ST9 ABS edging. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    Cashmere Grey is also available as a matching U702 ST9 ABS edging tape, unglued and supplied in 0.8mm and 2mm thicknesses for hot melt edgebanding machines.

      A

      Yes, and that's actually one of the points of this decor. Cashmere Grey is available across a range of surface textures, so it's possible to build a scheme with genuine textural contrast while keeping the colour completely consistent throughout.
    2. Q Would both faces be suitable for display if I used this board for open shelving?
      A

      Yes. Both sides of the panel carry the same decor, texture and finish, so open shelving or any piece viewed from more than one angle looks equally finished on either face.
    3. Q Is the matching Cashmere Grey edging suitable for ironing on at home?
      A

      No, it isn't designed for that. The edging is supplied unglued with a universal bonding primer, made for hot melt edgebanding machines using EVA, PA, APAO or PUR adhesive, rather than iron-on application.
    4. Q Does the melamine finish make this board suitable for cupboards exposed to frequent moisture?
      A

      No, the panel itself carries no moisture rating, so it should be kept clear of persistent damp, splashing or standing water regardless of the finish. It suits dry interior cupboards rather than anywhere with frequent moisture exposure.
    5. Q How should I clean around cupboard handles without gradually polishing the matt finish?
      A

      Stick to a soft, slightly damp cloth with mild soapy water, and avoid wax-based polishes or re-greasing cleaners, since repeated use of those around handles is what tends to build up a slight sheen over time.
