Description
Not every job needs a full-size sheet. The 12.5mm Standard Plasterboard Square Edge 1800 × 900mm (7′ x 3′) is designed for jobs where a smaller format simply works better.
Think about the places on a typical build or renovation where a full sheet will not cooperate. Tight stairwells where you cannot get the angle right. Loft spaces with a low ridge where a full-length board is difficult to manoeuvre and position correctly. Small utility rooms, airing cupboards, boxing-in around pipework, and patching sections of wall where cutting a full sheet generates more waste than finished board. In all of those situations, this smaller format saves real time and real money.
One person can often carry, position, and fix this board alone. That matters on solo jobs, tight-access areas, and anywhere a second pair of hands is not available. Less cutting, less off-cut waste, less material handling.
The square edge profile suits dot-and-dab and base-layer applications. Each board covers 1.62m², which makes material planning straightforward on jobs made up of smaller sections and awkward runs. That smaller footprint also means less waste when cutting around obstacles, openings, and irregular wall sections.
The 12.5mm gypsum core delivers a bending breaking load of at least 550N on the long side and 210N on the short side. Weight stays under 9 kg/m². Thermal conductivity is 0.25 W/mK.
Fire Reaction Class A2-s1-d0, meaning the board does not contribute to fire spread. Complies with EN 520+A1, with UKCA documentation available on request.
This board is intended for dry internal areas only. Where moisture or humidity is a factor, moisture resistant plasterboard is the correct choice.
Why this board works:
- The smaller 1800 × 900mm size is easier to carry and fit in tighter spaces without affecting the quality of the board
- One person can handle and fix without assistance in most situations
- Each sheet covers 1.62m², making material planning simple on jobs with lots of small or irregular sections
- Reduces cutting waste significantly in awkward areas
- Identical core spec to larger boards, so performance does not drop when you switch sizes
- A2-s1-d0 fire class and UKCA certification mean compliance credentials are in place regardless of sheet size
Where it gets used:
- Stairwells and landings: tight angles and restricted access where a full sheet is impractical
- Loft conversions: low-pitched roof sections and kneeler walls with limited working height
- Cupboards and storage areas: boarding small enclosures and built-in storage structures
- Patching and repair: replacing sections of existing plasterboard in walls and ceilings
- Boxing in: covering structural elements, pipes, and beams in confined spaces
- Dot-and-dab applications: bonding directly to masonry in smaller rooms and tight spaces
When the job calls for precision over coverage, this is the board that delivers.
