  • Description

The 12.5mm Standard Plasterboard Square Edge is a gypsum lining board for internal walls and ceilings in dry interior spaces. The edges are cut flush all the way around, which makes it the right choice for installation methods where a recessed profile would create problems rather than solve them.

Square edge boards are widely used in dot-and-dab (adhesive) wall lining systems, where boards are bonded directly to a masonry background rather than screwed to a metal frame. The flat edge sits cleanly against adjacent boards without creating recesses that need filling. They are also a natural fit for two-layer board systems, where the base layer carries the load, and the outer layer provides the finished surface. In that setup, the base does not need jointing treatment, so a flush edge is exactly what the job requires.

At 2400 × 1200mm (8′ × 4′), each board covers approximately 2.88m², which helps keep boarding work efficient across larger wall and ceiling areas. The format is compatible with standard UK stud centres and ceiling grid layouts, so material planning stays straightforward from the outset.

The 12.5mm thickness delivers a bending breaking load of at least 550N on the long side and 210N on the short side. Weight stays under 9 kg/m², keeping handling practical across a full day on site. Thermal conductivity is 0.25 W/mK.

Fire Reaction Class A2-s1-d0. Complies with TS EN 520+A1.

This board is for dry internal areas only. Where moisture or humidity is a factor, moisture resistant plasterboard would be the correct choice.

    Why this board works:

    • Flush square edge suits installation methods where a recessed profile would create unwanted gaps or require additional filling
    • Works as a base layer in double-board systems without requiring jointing between layers
    • Each sheet covers 2.88m², keeping the boarding work efficient across walls and ceilings
    • 12.5mm thickness gives a solid feel once fixed, without making boards difficult to handle on site
    • Under 9 kg/m² keeps handling manageable across a full day of wall and ceiling work
    • A2-s1-d0 fire class means the board does not contribute to fire spread in general drylining applications
    • UKCA certified and EN 520+A1 compliant, so compliance documentation is available when required

    Where it gets used:

    • Masonry wall lining: dot-and-dab application directly to brick or block walls in older properties
    • Double-layer partition systems: base board in two-layer assemblies for improved sound attenuation
    • Behind tiling: stable substrate for tiled finishes in dry internal areas
    • Refurbishment projects: relining solid external walls internally to prepare walls for insulated lining systems and redecoration
    • Industrial and commercial buildings: boarding walls where a functional finish is needed without taped joints
    • New build housing: base layer boarding in partition systems, where a second performance layer will be applied over the top

If you are drylining a solid wall and want a clean, practical board that fits straightforward wall lining and partition work without overcomplicating the job, this is it.
