Description
6mm Matchboard Wainscot Panel Primed Moisture Resistant MDF TG2 811 x 606mm turns a plain lower wall into a smart, traditional panelled feature without building it up board by board. Each panel arrives factory primed with the classic Richmond profile already pressed in. The grooves are set at 101.6mm (4 inch) centres and run the full length of the panel, creating clean vertical board lines. The smooth, primed face means there is no bare MDF to seal first. Just topcoat it in your chosen colour. The flat, grain-free surface takes paint evenly and helps create a crisp, consistent finish.
Built for damp rooms
This is an MR medium density grade, so it copes with the humidity swings of bathrooms, kitchens, ensuites and cloakrooms far better than standard MDF. Moisture resistant is not waterproof, though. It is an interior product, so keep it away from standing or running water and never use it outdoors.
How the boards join
- The TG2 tongue-and-groove long edges slot together, locking each panel into line with the next.
- The seam falls inside a Richmond groove, so a full run reads as continuous matchboarding rather than separate sheets.
- The system is designed around concealed fixings, so the panel face stays clean once it is fitted.
- The matching dado rail caps the top, and the skirting caps the bottom, covering the cut edges.
Where it works best
- Hallways and staircases, where scuffs and knocks are common and a wipeable painted panel stands up to daily traffic.
- Bathrooms and downstairs loos, where the MR grade handles steam and the odd splash around a basin.
- Kitchens, for a hardwearing lower wall that shrugs off the occasional splash.
- Living and dining rooms, to add period character below a dado line.
- Ceilings, where the light 4kg panel is easy to lift and hold steady while you fix it.
Manufactured to meet the EN 622-5 fibreboard standard, with E1 low formaldehyde level and made in the UK. Each panel measures 811 x 606mm, is 6mm thick, and weighs around 4kg, so it is light to carry and easy to position single-handed. Seal any freshly cut edges before painting, and wear a dust mask when machining MDF. This is an interior, non-structural product.
