4mm plywood is a slim, lightweight sheet supplied in a neat, easy to handle format. It gives you a consistent 4mm ply board that fits a wide range of small and precise tasks.
What is 4mm ply sheet?
A 4mm ply sheet is a thin engineered panel made from layered veneers that create a steady, uniform board. 4mm plywood sheets stay flat, trim cleanly and offer a simple way to work with a compact sheet thickness.
What is 4mm ply used for?
4mm plywood opens up many neat interior and creative jobs. A 4mm ply sheet works well as a light backing panel for cabinets and storage units, and it also fits tidy drawer bases in compact furniture. You can use 4mm ply board for feature wall panels, slim fascias on built-in shelving and small display stands that need a clean face. Many customers choose 4mm plywood sheets for retail signage, branded boards or laser cut artwork where a smooth, thin sheet gives the best result.
A 4mm ply board also suits model making, templates and curved design elements. It supports backboards for mirrors or frames and works for simple craft projects like boxes, organisers or decor pieces. A 4mm ply sheet gives you a steady base for flat lay photos, drawer dividers, trial panels for paint tests and interior cladding in small hobby spaces. It is also a practical option for false backs in media units, light boxing around pipework and temporary props or exhibition pieces where a thin, stable panel is all you need.
Types of 4mm ply board
4mm Birch Throughout Plywood B/BB comes with a B grade front and a BB grade back. The B face is cleaner, with fewer visible marks. The BB face may show small, repaired knots. This makes the sheet suitable for projects where one side needs a tidier look.
4mm Birch Throughout Plywood BB/BB has BB grade on both sides. The surfaces are smooth and consistent. Small patches or minor repairs are allowed, but the overall appearance stays uniform. This option works well when both faces need to look neat.
4mm Birch Throughout Plywood BB/CP combines a BB grade front with a CP grade reverse. The BB face is suitable for visible areas. The CP face is more rustic and may show knots, repairs or colour variation. This sheet is a good choice when only one side will be on show.
4mm plywood comes in the standard 2440 x 1220mm size and is available in BS EN636 class 2 or class 3. The edging is square and the veneers are smooth sanded for a clean finish. The boards meet E1 formaldehyde level and are supplied in both non structural product standards. They are suitable for interior use and for exterior work if treated correctly. All sheets come with FSC® certification where marked.
