    18mm Egger U565 ST9 Ocean Blue Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Blue Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and Surface
    Ocean Blue lives up to its name, carrying a genuine trace of green through the blue base. That green content is what gives it a fresh, natural character rather than a flat, single-note colour. Almost any wood tone works alongside it, and it also pairs well with warm grey or white for a more considered scheme. ST9 Smoothtouch Matt adds a soft, modern feel across the surface. It also handles everyday marks and spills well, staying easy to keep looking clean.

    Construction and Performance
    The core of this panel is designed for dry interior use, faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface. It can be easily cut and edge banded. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    1. Q Does the colour run through the material, or is it only on the surface?
      A

      Only the surface. The core underneath is standard chipboard, and the colour sits in the melamine facing on the top and bottom faces. Any cut or drilled edge will show the raw core unless it's covered with matching edging tape.
    2. Q Is Ocean Blue a good choice for a bathroom-style calming space, even though the panel itself isn't moisture rated?
      A

      The colour and tranquil association work well for a spa-like feel, but the panel itself needs to stay in a genuinely dry space, such as an adjoining dressing area or bedroom, rather than inside the bathroom itself.
    3. Q Does this panel take standard cam and dowel fittings, or does it need anything special?
      A

      Standard cam and dowel fittings work the same way as with any Egger MFC panel. No special hardware is needed.
    4. Q Does this panel need any protective coating applied after fitting, or is it finished as supplied?
      A

      It's fully finished as supplied. No lacquer, oil or sealant is needed after fitting, since the melamine facing is complete at the point of manufacture.
    5. Q Can offcuts from a full sheet be used for smaller pieces, like drawer fronts?
      A

      Yes, no problem there. The colour and finish stay the same right across the sheet, so a smaller offcut looks just as good as a full panel would for the same job.
