    18mm Egger U699 ST9 Fir Green Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Green Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and surface
    Fir Green is a very dark shade of green, deep enough to read as a near-black colour rather than a bright or leafy green. That richness gives it real presence, rather than coming across as just another dark neutral. ST9 Smoothtouch Matt gives the surface a velvety, even feel with no shine at all. Tested to EN 14323, the surface holds a stain resistance rating of 3 or higher, so everyday marks and spills wipe away without damaging the finish.

    Construction and performance
    The chipboard core is faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, finished with a square cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. The panel can be cut, drilled and machined using suitable woodworking equipment, with exposed edges finished using matching U699 ST9 ABS edging. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

     18mm Egger board U699 ST9 Fir Green MFC suits a wide range of interior fit-out work:

    • Media units and TV cabinetry in a dark, contemporary living space.

    Fir Green is also available as a matching U699 ST9 ABS edging tape, unglued and supplied in 0.8mm and 2mm thicknesses for hot melt edgebanding machines.

      A

      Yes, this is one of its strengths. Its near-black depth means it sits comfortably alongside other very dark tones in a scheme, reading as a considered, deliberate palette rather than a mismatch.
    2. Q Can this decor be used for a kitchen island that's visible from multiple sides, like an open-plan layout?
      A

      Yes, and it's a genuinely good fit for that. Since both faces of the panel carry the same finish, there's no need to plan around a "hidden" back or side, unlike some panels where only one face is fully decorative. That makes it a natural choice for an island that sits in the middle of a room rather than against a wall, where every side gets seen. The matching edging tape finishes the visible edges just as cleanly as the main faces.ย 
    3. Q Can this decor be used for both the doors and the carcass of a wardrobe, or is it better suited to fronts only?
      A

      It works for both. There's no structural reason to limit it to fronts only, so a full wardrobe built from matching panels, doors, sides and shelves will read as one consistent piece.ย 
    4. Q Does this decor work for a reception desk or front-of-house counter in a commercial space?

      Yes, it holds up well there. The rich, dark tone reads as a considered, premium choice for a reception area, and the surface handles the kind of daily handling and cleaning a front desk sees.ย
