18mm Egger U708 ST9 Light Grey Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Grey Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.
Colour and surface
Light Grey is a genuinely neutral tone, versatile enough to work in a wide range of combinations rather than pushing a scheme in one direction. It sits comfortably tone-on-tone alongside other greys, and just as easily as a clean contrast against natural woodgrains. ST9 Smoothtouch Matt strengthens that neutral character with a velvety, even feel. Tested to EN 14323, the surface scores 3 or higher for stain resistance, so everyday marks and spills clean off without damaging the finish.
Construction and performance
The chipboard core is faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, finished with a square cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. The panel can be cut, drilled and machined using suitable woodworking equipment, with exposed edges finished using matching U708 ST9 ABS edging. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.
