Large MDF Board

A large MDF board gives you more coverage from a single sheet. It is designed for projects where standard sizes are not enough. Large MDF is manufactured in the same way as standard MDF, but supplied in bigger dimensions, such as 10×4 MDF and 10×5 MDF. These oversized MDF sheets help cover wide surfaces without breaks. The result looks more precise and more consistent.

What is large MDF?

Large MDF is medium density fibreboard manufactured in sheet sizes larger than the standard format. The difference is the size.

A large MDF board can be supplied as a 10×4 MDF sheet, 10 x 5 MDF sheet or other oversized MDF formats. These larger panels allow wider areas to be covered with fewer joints.

A big MDF board is made from compressed wood fibres bonded under heat and pressure. This creates a flat and uniform panel. It has no grain, no knots and no weak points when installed correctly. The surface is easy to machine, cut and finish.

Oversized MDF is used when standard sheets would require too many joins. Larger panels make installation faster and the final result cleaner.

Large MDF boards are available in a wide range of thicknesses to suit different applications. Options range from 3mm to 50mm.

Standard large MDF sheet sizes include 3050 × 1220mm, 3050 × 1525mm and 3660 × 1830mm. These formats cover more surface area and reduce the need for joins.

Boards are manufactured to recognised standards, including BS EN622-1, EN622-5 and BS EN13501-1, where fire-rated options are specified. CARB2-compliant boards are also available.

All large MDF boards are supplied with square edges for accurate cutting and fitting. The surface is smooth and well sanded, ready for painting, lacquering or finishing.

Large MDF is available in standard and moisture resistant grades. Formaldehyde emissions meet E1 and E05 options. For interior use and supplied as non-structural panels. FSC-certified options are available.

What is a large MDF board used for?

Wall panelling

Large MDF sheets cover walls with fewer joins. This creates a clean and continuous finish.

Furniture manufacturing

A big MDF board is often used for wardrobes, cabinets and shelving. A 10×5 MDF sheet allows larger furniture parts to be cut from one panel.

Shop fitting and commercial interiors

Oversized MDF panels are used for display units, counters and wall features. Large sheets improve strength and appearance.

Cabinetry and joinery

Joiners use extra-large MDF board for doors, carcasses and internal structures.
