  • Description

18mm Egger U211 ST9 Almond Beige Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Beige Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and Surface
Almond Beige carries a slightly reddish component, just enough to keep the tone subtle rather than turning genuinely colourful. That warmth is part of a wider shift toward reddish neutrals, valued for the sense of closeness and comfort they bring to a room rather than a flat, clinical beige. ST9 Smoothtouch Matt keeps the surface understated to the touch, soft and even with no shine at all. Day-to-day wear isn’t a concern either, tested to EN 14323 with a stain resistance rating of 3 or higher, so everyday household marks won’t damage the finish.

    Construction and Performance
This 18mm panel is built on a non-structural chipboard core, faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, and finished with a square cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    Where to Use It
18mm Egger board U211 ST9 Almond Beige MFC suits a range of interior fit-out work:

    • Kitchen cabinet fronts in a warm, contemporary scheme.
    • Home office desking and storage for a considered, warm workspace.
    • Fitted wardrobe doors in a warm bedroom scheme.
    • Open shelving where warmth matters more than a stark neutral.
    • Built-in wardrobe interiors finished to match the visible fronts.
    • Feature wall panelling in warm, contemporary living spaces.

A colour matched ABS edging tape is available for this decor, supplied unglued in 0.8mm and 2mm thicknesses for use with hot melt edgebanding machines.

Send me a notification for each new answer.
    1. Q Does the surface stay stable if the room temperature changes a lot, like near a radiator or window?
      A

Reasonable everyday temperature changes aren't an issue. Sustained heat from something like a radiator or hob placed too close can affect the panel over time, so it's worth keeping some clearance from a direct, constant heat source.

    2. Q What's the difference between Almond Beige and a decor that's genuinely described as pink or blush?
      A

Almond Beige sits much further toward neutral. The reddish component is there to add warmth and depth, not to read as an actual colour, so from a normal viewing distance it still presents as beige rather than anything with a name like pink or blush.

    3. Q Does the ST9 surface make the panel harder to keep clean than a completely flat finish?
      A

Not in practice. The finish is smooth enough that it doesn't trap dust or dirt the way a deeply grooved or embossed surface would, so a normal wipe-down keeps it looking as clean as any other matt panel.

    4. Q Can this panel be routed or shaped for curved cabinet fronts, or does it only work for straight cuts?
      A

Yes, it is not limited to straight cuts. The panel can be CNC cut or routed into shapes, including gentle curves and rounded corners. Use sharp carbide or diamond-tipped tooling, support the sheet fully and take light passes, so the melamine does not chip along the edge. Curved edges can be banded too, but they need an edgebanding machine suited to the job. The 0.8mm tape follows a curve more easily than 2mm, and very tight radii are harder to band cleanly.ย

    5. Q Can Almond Beige be used as the main colour for a whole kitchen, or does it work better as one element in a scheme?
      A

It works well as a full kitchen colour on its own, since the reddish undertone stays subtle enough not to dominate. It also holds up well when used more selectively, as one element within a broader scheme.
