  • Description

18mm Egger U222 ST9 Crema Beige Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mmย  is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Beige Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and Surface
Crema Beige carries the warmth of a classic kitchen colour without tipping into yellow or orange, sometimes referred to by the paint-tone name Magnolia. It’s one of Egger’s most popular kitchen decors, combining comfortably with almost any wood tone for a cosy, classic feel. The ST9 Smoothtouch Matt surface feels smooth and even to the touch, warm rather than cold. Tested to EN 14323, the surface holds a stain resistance rating of 3 or higher, so everyday kitchen marks wipe away without damaging the finish.

    Construction and Performance
Non-structural chipboard forms the core here, faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, and finished with a square-cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    Where to Use It
18mm Egger board U222 ST9 Crema Beige MFC suits a range of interior fit-out work:

    • Kitchen cabinet fronts and drawer fronts in a classic, warm palette
    • Utility room and boot room cabinetry
    • Office storage units in soft, neutral colour schemes
    • Fitted wardrobe doors in a timeless bedroom scheme
    • Open shelving in kitchens and living spaces alike
    • Larder cupboard interiors and pantry storage

A colour matched ABS edging tape is available for this decor, supplied unglued in 0.8mm and 2mm thicknesses for use with hot melt edgebanding machines.

Send me a notification for each new answer.
    1. Q How many sheets would a typical run of kitchen base units need?
      A

It depends on the kitchen layout, but a standard run of six to eight base units, including sides, shelves and doors, often uses two to three full sheets once cutting waste is accounted for. Working out a full cutting list before ordering avoids running short partway through a project.

    2. Q Does this decor need any different fixings for wall-mounted units compared to floor-standing cabinets?
      A

No, the same wall brackets, cam fittings and screws work for both. What matters more is making sure the wall fixings themselves are rated for the weight of the loaded unit, which depends on the wall type rather than the panel.

    3. Q Is standard cam and dowel furniture fitting compatible with this panel?
      A

Yes. Standard cam and dowel fittings and concealed hinges work the same way as on any 18mm MFC panel. The main thing to watch is chipping at the drill exit point, so back the panel with scrap board or use a sharp, fine-tooth bit to keep the edge clean.

    4. Q Can this panel be joined edge to edge without the seam showing?
      A

A butt joint will always show some line, since this is a solid colour rather than a pattern. Careful edge banding and tight, well aligned cuts keep it to a minimum, and using panels from the same batch helps avoid any visible colour shift at the joint.
