18mm Egger U961 ST7 Graphite Grey Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Anthracite Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.
Colour and Surface
Graphite Grey reads as a refined, elegant near-black rather than a flat, one-note colour, which is exactly why it works so well across large surfaces where solid black can feel overwhelming. ST7 Smoothtouch Fine Pearl gives the surface a subtle sheen instead of a hard matt or a glossy finish, elegant without becoming reflective. Touch the surface, and it feels fine and slightly grained, catching light at an angle rather than lying completely flat. Tested to EN 14323, the surface achieves a stain resistance rating of 3 or higher, meaning common household marks can be removed without permanently affecting the finish.
Construction and Performance
This non-structural chipboard core is faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface, finished with a square cut edge ready for banding. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.
