The average delivery lead time for the majority of orders is 1-3 working days from the date of your order, however, it could extend to 5 working days on rare occasions or when you order products with extended lead times.     19mm Egger U968 TM Carbon Grey Lacquered Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in Germany by Egger, finished in the PerfectSense Matt lacquer range, part of the Anthracite Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and Surface
    Carbon Grey carries a cool, bluish undertone, restrained rather than saturated. Under the PerfectSense lacquer, that character comes through clearly, since the matt finish keeps reflections low and even across the surface. Fingerprints leave little trace here, the lacquer keeping the surface looking clean with minimal effort. It also holds up well against everyday stains and spills, tested and rated highly by Egger for resisting most household marks.

    Construction and Performance
    Melamine forms the base facing on both sides of this 19mm chipboard core, with the PerfectSense matt lacquer bonded on top of the visible face as the finished surface. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. This TM lacquer is rated for vertical applications or horizontal surfaces with low stress only, such as light shelving, rather than for heavily used horizontal surfaces like worktops or desking. The square cut edge takes banding cleanly, and the panel can be cut to size for bespoke work. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    19mm Egger board U968 TM Carbon Grey Lacquered MFC suits a range of interior fit out work:

    • Handleless kitchen cabinet fronts where fingerprints would otherwise show fastest
    • Built-in media console fronts and vertical AV cabinetry
    • Walk-in wardrobe interior doors and panelling
    • Statement drinks cabinet or bar unit fronts
    • Feature wall panelling in low-reflection, industrial-style schemes
    • Light shelving units where a soft, low-sheen finish matters

    Carbon Grey PerfectSense also comes as a matching ABS edging tape, unglued and supplied in 1mm thickness for hot melt edgebanding machines.

    1. Q Can this lacquered panel be paired with a standard, non-lacquered Carbon Grey panel in the same project?
      A

      The colour matches closely, since both come from the same base decor. The visual difference is in the finish, the lacquered panel reads with less shine and a slightly deeper tone than the standard melamine version, worth keeping in mind if both are used side by side. 
    2. Q Is standard cam and dowel furniture fitting compatible with this panel?
      A

      Yes. Standard cam and dowel fittings and concealed hinges work the same way as on any 19mm MFC panel. The main thing to watch is chipping at the drill exit point on the lacquered face, so back the panel with scrap board or use a sharp, fine-tooth bit to keep the edge clean. 
    3. Q How does this lacquer's scratch resistance compare to Egger's worktop-grade PM lacquer?
      A

      It's rated lower by design. Tested to EN 438-2, this TM lacquer holds a scratch resistance rating of 2, against a rating of 4 or higher for Egger's PM lacquer used on worktop-grade surfaces. TM is built for lighter everyday use on vertical and low-stress surfaces, not heavy wear. 
    4. Q Is this finish a good choice for handleless cabinet doors?
      A

      Yes, arguably one of the best reasons to choose it. Handleless doors get pressed and pushed directly on the panel face, and that's exactly where the anti-fingerprint lacquer makes the most visible difference over time.
    5. Q Does this panel need any different handling or tools during cutting compared to standard MFC?
      A

      No. It cuts, drills and edges the same way as any other Egger MFC panel. The lacquer sits on the same chipboard core and doesn't call for different blades or techniques.
