18mm Egger U963 ST9 Diamond Grey Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in the UK by Egger, part of the Anthracite Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.
Colour and Surface
Diamond Grey sits firmly on the cooler side of the dark grey spectrum, a considered stand-in wherever a scheme calls for near-black depth without committing to full black. It comes into its own set against light, natural woodgrains, where the contrast reads crisp and deliberate rather than harsh. Run a hand across the surface, and ST9 Smoothtouch Matt feels velvety and cool rather than slick, softening what could otherwise read as a stark, hard-edged grey. Tested to EN 14323, the surface achieves a stain resistance rating of 3 or higher, meaning everyday marks and spills clean off without leaving a lasting trace.
Construction and Performance
The panel is supplied with square cut edges ready for edge banding. Its chipboard core is faced on both sides with resin-impregnated decorative paper pressed into a durable melamine surface. Formaldehyde emissions meet E05 requirements, while fire behaviour is classified as D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1. The panel can be cut, drilled and machined using suitable woodworking equipment, with exposed edges finished using matching U963 ST9 ABS edging. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.
