  • Description

19mm Egger U599 TM Indigo Blue Lacquered Melamine Faced Chipboard 2800 x 2070mm is manufactured in Germany by Egger, finished in the PerfectSense Matt lacquer range, part of the Blue Unicolours range within Egger’s wider Uni Colours collection.

    Colour and surface
Indigo Blue reads as an almost-black blue, deep and full of character rather than flat. The PerfectSense lacquer keeps reflections low across the whole surface, so that depth holds up under normal room lighting instead of catching unwanted shine. Fingerprints barely leave a trace here, the lacquer doing genuine work to keep the surface looking clean.

    Construction and performance
Melamine forms the base facing on both sides of this 19mm chipboard core, with the PerfectSense matt lacquer bonded on top of the visible face as the finished surface. Fire behaviour is classified D-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1, and the formaldehyde level meets E05. This TM lacquer is suitable for vertical surfaces or horizontal surfaces that only get light use, such as shelves. It isn’t intended for heavily used surfaces like worktops or desks. The square cut edge takes banding cleanly, and the panel can be cut to size for bespoke work. It is intended for dry interior applications. It can be used for kitchen cabinets and furniture, but should not be installed where the board or exposed edges will be subject to persistent moisture, standing water or direct wetting.

    Where to use it
19mm Egger board U599 TM Indigo Blue Lacquered MFC suits a range of interior fit-out work:

    • Handleless kitchen cabinet fronts where a low-reflection surface matters most.
    • Bedside tables and bed frame panels in a bold bedroom scheme.
    • Vertical AV cabinetry and media unit fronts.
    • Light shelving units where a soft, low-sheen finish stands out.
    • Feature wall panelling in dark, dramatic interiors.

A colour matched U599 TM ABS edging tape is available for this decor, supplied unglued in 1mm thickness for hot melt edgebanding machines.

Send me a notification for each new answer.
    1. Q How do I choose between Indigo Blue and the other blue shades in this range, like Denim or Tyrolean?
      A

It comes down to how bold you want the colour to feel. Indigo Blue sits at the darker, almost-black end, while Denim Blue is much softer and greyer, and Tyrolean Blue lands somewhere in between as a strong, classic blue. Ordering a sample of each side by side is the easiest way to judge them in your own lighting.

    2. Q Does the anti-fingerprint coating actually work in everyday use?
      A

Yes, and it's a genuine property of the lacquer, not just a name on the label. Egger formulates this PerfectSense Matt finish specifically to resist showing fingerprints and light handling marks, which is why it holds up so well on fronts and doors that get touched constantly.

    3. Q Can I use this panel as a desktop or worktop?
      A

Not for everyday use. Egger recommends this TM lacquer for vertical surfaces or horizontal surfaces that only get light use. A desk or worktop that sees daily wear needs a different, higher-spec lacquer built for that kind of pressure.

    4. Q Does this panel need any different handling or tools during cutting compared to standard MFC?
      A

No. It cuts, drills and edges the same way as any other Egger MFC panel, and the lacquer sits on the same chipboard core throughout, so it doesn't call for different blades or techniques.

    5. Q Would this decor work for a headboard or bed frame, not just cabinet fronts?
      A

Yes, it suits that kind of furniture well. The dark, lacquered surface reads as a real feature piece on something flat and large like a headboard, and it takes standard fixings the same way a wardrobe or cabinet front would.
